  Patrick Colfer immigrated to the United States about 1853 via Canada along with his brothers. He first settled in Chicago, on the near north side before removing to what was then Turner Junction, now known as West Chicago, DuPage, Illinois. He was married twice. first to Margaret Dillen on 13 Nov 1859. With her, he had two children, Patrick Andrew, b. 1861 and Ellen (later married to John Kelley) born 1864. His first wife died on 12 January 1866. He married a second time to Sarah Graham on 21 Oct. 1866. he had four more children by her: Andrew (1867), Catherine (1868), Margaret (1870), and Mary Marion (1873). Patrick had three acres of land between Colford Avenue and Main Street and his brother Richard had 3 acres between Colford Avenue and Summit. Patrick had a one and half story house on Colford Avenue built about 1859 (destroyed about 1987). For many years, he worked the Baker Farm located in Wayne Township on Prince Crossing Road and Old St. Charles Road (by North Avenue). Colford Avenue is named for both he and his brother. Other brothers that came over from Ireland were Andrew, Thomas, and Matthew. Richard and Andrew are buried in Calvary Cemetery.³
