Sr. Magdalita's minsitry has been dedicated to teaching. She also lived and ministered at the Motherhouse at Sinsinawa, 1986-2000, and is now retired at St. Dominic Villa at Sinsinawa. Sr. Magdalita taught at St. Bernard's Peoria, 1943-1951. Her home parish is St. Brendan's, Chicago, where she attened St. Brendan's Grade School before graduating from Visitation High School (1937), Chicago. In the Chicago Archdiocese, she taught at St. Thomas More, Chicago, 1964-66. In the Rockford Diocese, she taught at St. Patrick's, Rockford, 1966-1970, and St. Mary's, East Dubuque, 1970-1986. In the Baltimore Archdiocese, she taught at St. Rose's, Baltimore, 1951-1958. In the Camden (NJ) Diocese, she was a teacher and principal at St. James', Ventnor, 1958-64.2

    SINSINAWA, Ill. - Sister Magdalita Ginty, OP, 88, of St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa, died at 1:10 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, at St. Dominic Villa.
    Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Rosary Chapel, Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, with burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:15 p.m. Monday at the Gathering Place, Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, where there will be a wake and remembering service at 6:30 p.m. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main Street, Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.
    Sister Magdalita was an elementary and junior high school teacher and principal for 43 years. She served in Illinois, Wyoming, Maryland, New Jersey and Wisconsin.
    She was born on March 21, 1919, in Chicago, daughter of Michael and Katherine (Madden) Ginty.
    She made her first profession of religious vows on Aug. 5, 1943.
    Surviving are a sister-in-law, June Ginty; nieces and nephews; and her Dominican Sisters, with whom she shared life for 64 years.
