I had the opportunity to visit Ireland for three weeks during the summer of 2011. My quest was to locate six of my ancestral farms. With information from Griffith's Valuation, contemporary maps and my husband's superb driving skills, we were able to locate all of them.

We also enjoyed the scenery, food and, of course, the "drink," and had several wonderful encounters with the locals. Some invited us into their homes, others told us stories of the area, and still others accompanied us on parts of our journey to locate the farms. Meeting a second cousin was one of the highlights.

The slideshow is mostly an overview of the wonderful sights we saw and people we met. It really doesn't have anything directly to do with genealogy except that this is the land of my ancestors. Enjoy!
