Frank (Francis) T. White of Carmel, Indiana died on October 8, 2009. He was born on July 12, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois and spent most of his youth in Country Club Hills, a south suburb of Chicago.
Frank is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Kathy and two children, Christopher D. White and Leigh of Chicago, Illinois and Sarah White of Carmel, Indiana. Frank and Kathy were married on April 27, 1968 in Hinsdale, Illinois. He is also survived by his twin sister Judy Jesswein and family and his beloved cousin Don Schmidt and family.
Frank was an athlete in high school and a fan of several sports throughout his life. At Tinley Park High School, Tinley Park, Illinois he played football, basketball and was a member of the wrestling team. Although he enjoyed Indiana University basketball and football and the Indianapolis Colts football team, his favorite sports club was the Chicago White Sox baseball team (He had strong sympathy for Cub’s fans.)
After graduating from Tinley Park High School, Frank attended Roosevelt University (Chicago) earning a bachelor’s degree in history. His interests are reflected in his collections of old radios and collector’s cars.
Frank and Kathy moved to Indianapolis from Chicago in 1979 and lived in Carmel since 1999. Throughout their marriage they enjoyed traveling around the country with their favorite destinations including Mackinac Island, Michigan; Napa Valley, California; Key West, Florida, with Anna Maria Island and the “Sand Bar” being his favorite place on earth.
For many years Frank was employed in the restaurant industry, making lifelong friends along the way. Most recently he was a senior property manager for Phillips Edison & Co. of Cincinnati, where he was known affectionately as “Big Frank”.
He once said that although blessed with so many wonderful tangible things in his life, none of them were as important to him as his family and friends. He would characteristically give someone the shirt off his back or the car in his driveway.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at the family home in Carmel on Saturday, October 17 from noon until 6:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
The family requests that remembrance gifts be given to the Gastric Cancer Fund, 106 Towerview Ct., Cary, NC 27513.
