Anna's first husband had died after only 5 years of marriage. I asked Carleen Maher Malone, niece of Anna and Marguerite Woods Kissane if her two aunts married the same man. She responded on April 13, 2011:
Yes they did. Anna was married to a Edward Druggan. They were only married about 5 yrs when he died of heart failure. He passed in 1950. Anna was the youngest of the Woods. Margarite Kissane was married about 27 years to James Kissane when she died. Their sister Patrica Fleming thought Anna and Jim should get together and started to play cupid. Many family members felt Anna was too young for Jim, but they married. I believe in 1959 and were married till Anna's death. I was crazy about my Aunt Anna she was the sweetest thing. She had one fault, she was meek. She was old before her time. Now that I'm looking at the date of her death, I can't believe it's been 30 yrs.5

At the time of her parents death. Mamie and Michael Madigan, the sister and brother of Margaret, raised the family of 7 children ranging in ages fram 18-2.

In 1929 she entered the Sisters of Charity, BVM Congregation. At the reception Marion recieved the name "Maude", a name she could barely tolerate, and was delighted to return to her baptismal name Marion.

She was a nun for 72 years. 45 of those years teaching elementary school.
In Iowa she was missioned at St Martin, Cascade; Sacred Heart, Davenport; and St Patrick, Iowa City.

In the Northwest, she taught at St Anthony, Tigard, Ore.

"Those who lived and taught with her remember her as a kind, welcoming, encouraging, thoughtful and friendly person.
She was an excellent teacher" She also is remembered for never missing a birthday with a card, even when her list of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews grew and grew. Not a Christmas went by, without a mass card from her.

"One of her grandnephews comments "She brought such a wonderfully calming to the family". Her humor and gift of storytelling, the twinkle in her eyes and her ability to accept whatever circumstances she encountered created a quality of presence that will be indeed missed.

You knew Marion would be the last to go in her family, making sure that all her siblings were taken care of, before she left this world. That's how she was, she was a great person, aunt, and nun.

You are missed and so are your Mass cards......
